Issue

Users will get a "509 Bandwidth Limit Exceeded" error like the following screenshot and won't be able to access their site.

Reason

A. Missing Payment

Shifter will limit your account if a payment has failed.

B. Bandwidth Limit Exceeded

As we show on our pricing page, each plan has a storage and monthly bandwidth limit. If traffic exceeds its monthly bandwidth or storage limit, server throttles are accessed.
We notify each customer about their site when it is close to this limit.

C. Storage Limit Exceeded

As we show on our pricing page, each plan has a storage and monthly bandwidth limit. If storage reaches the limit, server throttles are accessed.

We notify each customer about their site when it is close to this limit.

Solutions

Check current payment status, bandwidth, and storage usage in the Shifter Dashboard, then take necessary actions.

A. Missing Payment

i. Update the payment method in your Shifter dashboard and complete all payments.

Bandwidth Limit Exceeded

i. Enabling Media CDN

The Media CDN expands the WordPress media library feature and stores media on our dedicated CDN. It can decrease bandwidth by offloading media to the CDN.

Also, Shifter supports WebP media format under Media CDN enabled environment. By enabling Media CDN, Shifter converts media to the webP format without changing the original.

ii. Upgrade plan

The higher tier plans have larger data transfer limits, bandwidth, and storage space.
Please check our support document Upgrade your Shifter Plan to upgrade a plan.
